ERICK E CHALLE

Eighty-two-year-old Erick E. Challe, a farmer in the Jewell area for many years died on Monday evening, Nov. 6, at the Bethany Manor in Story City where he had been a resident for five years and two months.

Services will be held at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The Rev. Norbert Jolivette will be assisted in officiating by Rev. M. C. Hagedorn of the Bethany Manor.

The body will lie in state at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell until 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Born on April 26, 1890 at Jewell, Challe married Caroline Hoversten in October 1920. She passed away on December 12, 1949. He then married Mabel Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on June 12, 1952.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gordon Woster who is a teacher at McCallsburg, his wife Mabel, a sister, Mrs. Gust Bergland of Stratford, a brother Edward Challe of Jewell, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son Carroll.
