Birdie Irene Inks, 97, Williams, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams with Rev. Tom Hunt officiating Saturday at 10:30 a.m. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery. Surls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Birdie Irene Hoversten, daughter of Thomas and Anna Anderson Hoversten, was born Sept. 21, 1903 in Williams. She attended Hamilton County Country Schools. On April 4, 1932 she married Leroy C. Inks. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the ladies aid.

Survivors are Betty Grimm of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Stella Clancy of Jewell; a son, David Inks of Iowa Falls, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Edna Everman, Iowa Falls and Hazel Westwick, Williams and Glen Hoversten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Willard, Ernest, Chester and Gaylord and one sister, Alice Mathias.
