December 31, 2019Joyce Lateer, 73, of Webster City died Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Israel Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Eichler officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 3rd at Foster Funeral & Cremation Center. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Webster City.
Joyce Ellen Bickford, daughter of Richard and Marie Loughry Bickford, was born May 16, 1946, in Webster City. She graduated from Webster City High School in June 1964 and La James College of Cosmetology in Mason City in 1965. She worked for My Lady Beauty Shop and owned Bick’s Curls & Swirls in Webster City from 1966 – 1975. She also enjoyed working with her parents at Marie’s Paint and Putter Ceramic Shop. Joyce was united in marriage to Ronald Lateer on October 15, 1976, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She worked for Electrolux from Feb. 1970 – Oct. 2009.
She is survived by her step-daughters, Amy Lateer of Webster City, Alicia (Bill) Lateer-Huhn of Alexandria, KY; fur child, Sugar; goddaughter, Emily (Michael) Claman of Webster City; borrowed grandchildren, Bridjett, Naythan, Mikenzie, Meylia, Jayde; sister, Alice Snyder of Denver; sisters-in-law, Maureen (Vern) Elston of Clarion, Bonnie Boyd of Preston, MN, Sherrie (David) Zellinger of Newton; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, in 2014; her parents and fur child, Cuddles.
Joyce was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was a superintendent and had worked many years in the preschool. She volunteered at the Depot Museum, a reading buddy for RSVP, was a cub scout troop leader and recording secretary for UAW local #442 for 37 years.
Memorials may be left in Joyce’s memory to her family.
