November 20, 2019Sharon Lee (Hemmen) Schumacher, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Bozeman, Montana on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019.
She was born Oct. 4, 1935, to Ray and Virginia (Manion) Hemmen in Webster City, Iowa, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953.
After high school she became an X-ray technician and moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she met her husband Dr. Douglas Schumacher. They married in 1955 and moved to Billings, Montana, then Sheridan, Montana and eventually settling in Bozeman, Montana. They divorced in 1981 and Sharon began a long satisfying career with the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office where she retired in 2015 after 35 years. Her goal was to work longer than her sons, which she accomplished by one month.
Sharon is survived by sons Colton (Marianne) Schumacher, retired police sergeant in Bozeman, and Trent (Tracey) Schumacher, retired police officer in Bozeman, and grandsons Caleb and Khanner Schumacher, sister Sandra (Doug) Rasmussen from Johnston, Iowa, sister Rae Jean Risetter from Radcliffe, Iowa, and cousins from Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Colorado.
She was preceded in death by Dr. Douglas Schumacher, son Rick Schumacher, parents Ray and Virginia Hemmen and brother Larry Hemmen.
There will be no services at this time.
