Margaret Ruth Stangeland, 75, rural Jewell, died Feb. 10, 2005 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Victory Christian Fellowship Church in Jewell with Pastor Ernest Amstalden officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.
Margaret Stangeland was born April 7, 1929 to parents Grover and Gertrude (Fisher) Yoder in Woolstock. She married Lester Stangeland July 21, 1947. She lived most of her life in the Jewell area and was a member of the Victory Christian Fellowship Church in Jewell. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Margaret helped on the farm and dressed farm fresh chickens. She drove school bus for the South Hamilton School District for eight years. She made 40 to 50 quilts, liked to read novels, go to Prairie Meadows and catch nightcrawlers.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Lester of rural Jewell; four daughters, Linda Loux of Jewell, Sharon Lewis of Jewell, Lois Stangeland of Jewell; and Lisa Larson of Ellsworth; two sons, Ray Stangeland of Jewell and Don Stangeland of Graettinger; five sisters, Faye Moser of Eagle Grove; Lelia LaRue of Des Moines, Frances Lindstrom of Eagle Grove, Kaye Smith of Ankeny and Terry Becker of Humboldt; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and one sister.
