Katie Anderson, 100, Webster City, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005 at Crestview Senior Living. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Revs. John Grebner and Doug Tiffany officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, south of Jewell. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Katie Koop, daughter of John and Kate Barkema Koop, was born May 23, 1904 on a farm north of Jewell. She was baptized on Aug. 7, 1904 at the First Presbyterian Church at Kamrar. She attended a rural school and a German School, both north of Jewell. On March 12, 1924, she married Henry Anderson and the couple farmed in the Jewell-Kamrar area. They attended the Bethesda Lutheran Church at Jewell, where Katie was confirmed on Feb. 20, 1938. Mr. Anderson died July 9, 1966. Later in 1966, she moved to Webster City. She had resided at Crestview since January of 2002.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Sterling and Beverly Anderson, Berwick, Henry and Gretchen Anderson of Webster City; Franklin and Sue Anderson of Colgate, WI; LaVonne Anderson of Weslaco, Texas; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Lindquist of Webster City; Elaine and Ron Olson of Anchorage, Alaska; 31 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Wilma Koop Hecht of Jewell; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son, LeRoy Anderson; daughters, Irene Stubbs, Norma Beehrle and Vera Whiteley; brothers, Bill and Hans Koop; sisters, Harmke Mortenson, Rickie Klaver, Bertha Sanderson, Jennie Greenley and Minnie Templer.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and served with the Lydia Circle and quilt groups. She attended Congregate Meals and the Webster City Senior Citizens Club. Katie enjoyed sewing, entertaining and cooking for her family and friends. She made many quilts and afghans which she gave to members of her family throughout the years. She loved to travel and had enjoyed trips to Spain, Liberia, Alaska, Hawaii and many other places in the United States. In 1984, she wrote a book called "The Life and Times of Henry and Katie Anderson" which can be found at Kendall Young Library. She had written many documents of her life and her family. While the couple farmed, she was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Neighborhood Club. Katie had a fulfilling and rewarding life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
