Orville Burgess, 91, Alden, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 at his home. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with a 7 p.m. public prayer service. There will be a graveside service Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.
Orville Albert Burgess was born on October 25, 1914 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of George and Oneita (Gage) Burgess. He was united in marriage to Louise Moore on April 8, 1938 and after her death, he married Arlene Rankin Sharar on February 20, 1979. Orville had worked as a car dealer for over forty years, retiring in 1984. He was a charter member of the Elks Club in Pontiac, Michigan; a charter member of the Popejoy Lions Club; and a member of the Iowa Falls Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1331.
Orville is survived by his three grandsons, Kevin Matson and his wife, Kathy, Dan Matson and his wife, Cindy, and Mike Burgess; two granddaughters, Cathy Matson and Valerie Burgess; three great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; a step-son, Larry Sharar and his wife, Leona of Dows; two step-daughters, Jan Hurd and her husband, Lloyd of Alden and Lee Jass and her husband, Mike of Garden Grove; 8 step-grandchildren and 10 great-step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Louise and Arlene; and a son, Harold Burgess.
