LaVonne Elliott, 83, of Webster City, died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the Hamilton Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Graceland Cemetery prior to the Wednesday memorial service. Visitation will be at the Asbury United Methodist Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until noon on Wednesday at the church.
LaVonne Marie Snell, daughter of Clinton and Elizabeth Goehring Snell, was born September 15, 1922 at Webster City. She attended Fremont # 3 rural school and graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1939. She attended the Webster City Junior College, then graduated from the Iowa State University with degrees in home economics, physical education and science. She taught in the Manning school system. On February 9, 1947 she married Wendell Ivan Elliott at Webster City. The couple operated a grain and livestock farm in Webster Township-Hamilton County. She also taught as a substitute in the Webster City school system. She also helped Wendell in the farming operation and was a homemaker.
LaVonne is survived by her husband, Wendell; daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Jeri Elliott of Webster City; Beth and Dave Peterson of Mason City; Kris and Jim Hallenberg of Plymouth, MN; grandsons, Weston and Blake Hallenberg; brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Arline Snell of Webster City; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Audrey Elliott of Webster City; Arlene Rudi of Glidden.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her memberships included - Asbury United Methodist Church, the Worship committee, Pastor/Parish Committee, the Care Team, several circles, Iowa State Alumni Association, P.E.O. - EL, Sons of Norway, department assistant and judge at the Hamilton County Fair, 4-H Counsel, 4-H leader for several years, Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary, charter member of the W.D.K., Red Hat Ladies, Taco Birthday Club and neighborhood clubs.
