Melvin E. May, 83, of Webster City, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Webster City. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Graveside military services will be conducted by American Legion Post #191.

Melvin Earl May, son of William and Anna Feldt May, was born March 14, 1923 at Mitchell, Iowa. He received his education at Mitchell, graduating in 1941. He served with the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment operator in W.W. II in the European Theatre of Action. On February 14, 1953 he married Doris Petersen at Clear Lake. He was employed with the Williams Pipeline Company for 35 years as a terminal operator at Clear Lake, Hudson, Dubuque, Webster City and Springfield, MO, they retired to Perry then Marshalltown and for the past 2 years have resided at Webster City.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter and son-in-law, Gwendolyn and Gary Twedt of Ottumwa; sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Marcia May of Webster City; Gary and Brenda May of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Lyndsey Twedt of Ottumwa; Allison and Andrew May of Webster City; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harley May.

He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #191, V.F.W. of Marshalltown, he enjoyed woodworking and fishing and for 8 years, he helped deliver Meals on Wheels at Marshalltown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Hamilton County Hospice/Respite and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
