Dorothy Irene Seaman, 80, of Jewell, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral service is 10:30 Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church Chapel in Jewell. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation is Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Dorothy Irene Roe was born May 21, 1925 on a farm north of Ellsworth to Clarence and Dora (Anderson) Roe. She was baptized in the Rose Grove Lutheran Church on July 12, 1925 and confirmed at the Tabitha Lutheran Church in Williams on May 12, 1940. Dorothy attended Ellsworth High School. Dorothy married Ned Arthur Seaman of Fernwood, Idaho on October 3, 1945 at the parsonage in Jewell. She and Ned corresponded during WWII while Ned was stationed on Midway Island in the South Pacific. They lived happily for 52 years, until Ned's death in 1997. Dorothy was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music and traveling. But most of all Dorothy enjoyed her family.

Dorothy is survived by three sisters, Arlene Weidner of Ames, Evelyn (Leo) Denekas and Marjorie Christianson both of Jewell; a brother, Marvin Roe of Auburndale, Florida; nieces, nephew and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned, her parents, a nephew, Gary Denekas, and brothers-in-law, Veneer Weidner and Leroy Christianson.
