Mark “Papa Doud” Doud, 50, of Stratford and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015, at his home in Stratford.

Mark Daniel Doud, son of Harold Jackson and Phyllis Louise (Mason) Doud, was born December 4, 1964, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. At age 14 he began working at the A & W Root Beer Stand and worked there for several years. Following his graduation from Oskaloosa High School in 1983, he worked at Pella Corp. He married Angela Havinga, August 4, 1990, and to that union three sons were born. In 1996, the family moved to Stratford and he was employed by Farmland as an electrician working out of Duncombe, Iowa.

Mark was a fun-loving and adventurous soul; he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, bow hunting deer, flying small planes, and in his younger days he took up the sport of bull riding.

Mark’s family includes his sons, Lucas Doud of Webster City, Colton Doud of Stratford and Kade Doud of Cambridge; his mother, Phyllis Doud of Oskaloosa; sisters: Terri Johnston of Columbia, MO, Mary (Jesse) Johnston-Eskew of Harrisburg, MO and Becky (Glen) Askeland of Fort Leonard Wood, MO; a sister-in-law, Cindy Doud of Oskaloosa and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Doud on August 1, 2013.

A memorial graveside service will be held for Mark on Friday, April 3, 2015, at 11 a.m., at the Friends Cemetery on North E Street in Oskaloosa with Alvern Boetsma of the Good news Chapel officiating. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel will be in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Legion.
