Pauline Mae Lund was born on a farm north of Jewell on November 22, 1931, the daughter of George and Esther (Van Langen) Hassebrock.

Pauline graduated from Jewell High School and was later married to Luther Lund on April 15, 1951. To this union came three children: Sue Friest of Ankeny, Joyce (Lynn) Knutson of Story City and Timothy (Julee) Lund of Jewell. They spent their entire working lives farming south of Jewell.

She and Luther spent many summers at Clear Lake with their family and close friends. They belonged to the Jewell Golf and Country Club and enjoyed their card club. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, baking Lefsa and making Kulma.

Family was very important to Pauline, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Pauline was an active member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and E.L.C.W.A.

Pauline passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Bethany Life in Story City surrounded by her loved ones

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband Luther of Bethany Life in Story City; her three children; five grandchildren Amy (Luke) Lesyshen, Troy (Jessica) Knutson, Justin (Sandy) Friest, Lindsay (Justin) Hoversten, Erin (James Martin) Friest; six great-grandchildren Kendra Hoversten, Kennedy Friest, Colin Lesyshen, Nathan Friest, Alyssa Mohr and Brayden Knutson; along with many other relatives and friends.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents George and Esther and a son-in-law Parker Friest.
