OBITUARY

DIED, at his residence Saturday morning February 27th, 1892, Peter Wiem, age 57 years, 6 months and 9 days.

Deceased was born in Schleswig, Germany, Aug. 18th, 1834, he came to America in 1857 and settled at Clinton, Ia., where he resided for one year, from there he went to Missouri, and then to Kansas where he resided for a while. He then spent some time in search of gold in the Rocky Mountains.

In 1862 he returned to Clinton, Iowa, and on the 22nd of Aug. ' 62 he enlisted in Company E 26th Regiment of Iowa, Volunteer Infantry for a period of 3 years. After having done 3 years of faithful service for his adopted country he was honorably discharged at Washington, D.C. June 6, 1865. While in the war he fought in the battles at Ark. Post Ark., Vicksburg, Jackson Miss., Cherokee Station, Ala., Lookout Mt, Masonry Ridge, Ringed, and Resaca, Georgia.

He was married to Gustie Hanson of Clinton Co., in 1865. In 1869 he moved with his family to Hamilton Co., where he has since resided. He leaves a wife, five children and many friends to mourn his loss.
