P.E. Sudderberg, well known and highly respected resident of this community for many years, died in his home here Friday afternoon. During the winter, which he and Mrs. Sudderberg spent in Des Moines, he suffered a stroke of paralysis shortly before he came to his home here. Since then he has had several strokes and has gradually grown weaker until death relieved him.

Peter Eric Sudderberg was born in Bollnäs, Gävleborg, Sweden, on Aug. 16, 1855, and died in his home home, Sept. 30, 1938, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, 14 days.

He came to this country with his parents, two brothers and a sister on June 28, 1870 and the family located on a farm in Boone County. On January 1, 1885 he was married to Anna Engquist and one son and two daughters were born of this union. His wife died April 27, 1901 and on Jan. 8, 1918, he was married to Emma Johnson. During the year 1920 they moved to Stratford which has since been their home. He was a member of the South Marion Methodist Church for many years during the time he lived on a farm, southeast of Stratford.

The surviving relatives are, his wife, two brothers, E.E. Sudderberg, of Stratford, and J.E. Soderberg, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one granddaughter, Elaine Nelson, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held, Monday, Oct. 3 at 1:30 o'clock in the home and at 2 o'clock in the Lutheran church, the pastor, the Rev. C.S. Ericson, officiating. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery. The pallbearers were Alfred M. Erickson, Alfred Rose, E.G. Erickson, Alfred Poulson, Elick Swedlund, Floyd T. Ferlen.
