EMMA STRAND DIES IN NEW MEXICO

Word just in to friends of Dayton that Mrs. Emma Strand, a former Dayton resident, died in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The body will arrive in Dayton on Thursday afternoon. Funeral services are tentatively set for Saturday, but the time and place will be announced later. Mrs. Strand was 92 years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Lorena Snyder and son Gilbert. Her husband, John Albert Strand died in 1949.

Mrs. Emma Strand Rites Saturday

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Emma Strand, 92, former resident of Stratford, will be held Saturday, June 13 at 2 o'clock from the Calvary Methodist church at Stratford. The Rev. Robert Ruppert will be in charge and burial will be in South Marion cemetery.

Mrs. Strand died June 6 at Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lorena Snyder, Albuquerque, and a son, Gilbert, who lives in Virginia.

Carson Funeral Home of Dayton is in charge of the services.

OBITUARY
EMMA LAVINA STRAND

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Strand were held Sat., June 13, at 2 p.m. in Calvary Methodist Church of Stratford, with the Rev. Robert H. Ruppert ministering. The pallbearers for the service were Ralph Strand, Olger Strand, T.W. Swanson, Clemens, Selander, Vernon Selander and Charlie Hanson. Music for the service was by Mrs. James Bricker, organist, and transcribed songs by Mr. William Mather and Mrs. Mildred Parmley were "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus," "Day By Day" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." The flowers were cared for by Miss Hannah Nelson and Mrs. Franklin Rose.

Emma Lavina Strand, the daughter of Rev. P.J. and Anna Peterson, was born July 21, 1867, near Stratford, Iowa, and passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 6, 1959, at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 15 days. She had made her home in Albuquerque with her daughter for the past ten years.

As a young girl, she accepted Christ as her Lord and her Saviour, and remained a true servant of His throughout all her life. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, and a long-time member of the former Ladies Aid. She attended the Evangelical United Brethren Church while she resided in Albuquerque.

On May 25, 1892, she was united in marriage with John Albert Strand, and they made their home in the Stratford community until 1928. Three children were born to them: John Gilbert Strand of Richmond, Virginia, Anna Lorena Snyder of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and an infant son who preceded her in death. Her husband passed away in 1949 after more than 57 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Mrs. Adelaide Swanson, Mrs. Sadie Castile and Mrs. Mary Bjustrom, and one brother, John L. Peterson.

She is survived by her son and daughter, three granddaughters, Mrs. Guy Webb of Norfolk, Virginia, and Mrs. William Mather and Miss Shirley Snyder of Albuquerque, New Mexico, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
