Stratford Courier
June 10, 1926

Mrs. L.F. Peterson passed away at the home of her son, M.R. Peterson, early Thursday morning, June 3, 1926, after a short illness although she had been in poor health for many months. She had reached the ripe old age of 82 years, 7 months, 21 days on the day of her passing.

Deceased had been identified with the early life of this section of Iowa. She came here in an early day and lived here through the period of the making of this section into a prosperous community. She saw this state become one the leaders of the states of the Union and lived through the times which make the history of Iowa interesting to the present generation.

She had lived a good life, had been a faithful wife and a loving mother and her death marks the passing of another of the pioneers of this section.

Anna Charlotte Carlson was born in Sweden, October 13, 1843. In 1851 she emigrated to America with her parents and settled in Hardin township, Webster county, Iowa. In 1866 she was united in marriage to Lars Fredrick Peterson and to them was born one son. They lived on a farm in Boone county until 1888 when they moved to their farm just east of Stratford. Her husband departed this life in the year 1911 after which she made her home in Stratford and with her only son, Marcus R. Peterson. She was a member of the Baptist church for many years and was faithful to the last.

She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Marcus R.; three grandchildren, George Peterson of Stratford, Mrs. Mabel Watts of Clarion, Mrs. Myrtle Anderson of Exeter, California; one grandchild, Clarice Daniels, having preceded her in death four years ago. She also leaves six grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home of her son, M.R. Peterson and were conducted by Rev. K.A. Stromberg of the South Marion church. Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery.
