DEATH SUMMONS THREE RESIDENTS
Angel of Death Visits Stratford and Three Called to Heavenly Nome.

Patterson.

Mrs. Sophia Lydia Patterson was born in one of our Christian homes of this community, in Hamilton county, Iowa, the 17th day of January, 1869. On the 18th day of April, 1889, she was married to Albert Patterson. To this union was born three daughters and three sons, one daughter, Minnie Emily, died at the age of two years. She was united with the South Marion Methodist church on the 5th day of September, 1886, to which she remained faithful until the end. Being filled with that sweet peace and love which comes in the service of the Master, she was a tender and devoted wife and mother, and a friend full of love and sympathy for all, and the influence that she exerted will be felt and remembered, although she has departed to the world beyond.

She was sick for more than two years and at times her sufferings were great, yet she was patient, sweet-spirited and perfectly resigned to the will of God. She was devoted to her God, her church and her family. Although our departed sister, as well as her family, knew that death would come soon, and perhaps suddenly, still when the hour of departure came it was difficult to realize that the soul had gone to the church triumphant. She died peacefully at her home Wednesday evening, February 7, 1912, at 5:30, age 43 years and 21 days. Loving husband and children surrounded her death bed. She leaves husband, three sons, Budd, Fred, Clarence, and two daughters, Elsie and Fern, besides one sister, four brothers, and many other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.

The funeral services were held from the South Marion Methodist church Sunday, January 11, 1912, conducted by Rev. H.A. Peterson. The church was thronged with neighbors and friends, who came to pay their tribute of love and respect. Interment was made at the South Marion cemetery.
