Nordblom

John Nordblom, one of the early settlers of Boone county, Iowa died on Saturday morning, January 18, 1908, at the home of his son, Alfred, in Stratford, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 14 days, having been sick less than one week.

Deceased was born in Åfvansjö [Ovansjö] socken, Gestrikland, Gefleborgs [Gävleborg] län, Sweden, March 4, 1828. He was united in marriage to Anna Persdotter in 1856. To this union was born four children, one child having died in infancy in Sweden. In 1861, with his wife and one daughter, he emigrated to America and settled in Galva, Ill.

In 1870 he moved to a farm in Boone county, Iowa. Here in March, 1898, one son, Willie, died and in July of the same year his wife was called to her reward. In 1906 he moved with his son, Alfred, to Stratford, where he lived until God called him to the great home above.

He leaves to mourn his loss one son, Alfred, of Stratford and one daughter, Anna Bergquist of Atlanta, Nebraska, ten grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Swedish M.E. church in South Marion, of which deceased had been a faithful member for about thirty years, conducted by Rev. O.R. Palm and the interment took place in the Olson cemetery. Peace be to his memory.

Jon Andersson Nordblom was born March 4, 1828 in Ovansjö, Gävleborg, Sweden the son of Anders Jonsson and Cherstin Andersdotter.
