Obituary

Andrew William Nordblom was born at Galva, Ills., Aug. 16th, 1867, and died March 7th, 1898 in his 31st year. He came to this state in 1870, residing in Boone county until July 12, 1892, when he was united in marriage with Miss Rosina Monson, moving to a farm seven miles southwest of Stratford, where he resided until the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and two children, Esther and Cyrus, also a father, mother, brother and a sister. Mr. Nordblom was converted in 1888, and joined the Swedish M.E. church, July 21, 1889. He was a true Christian worker and always faithful to every trust committed to his care; tender and loving in his home; steadfast and true, his influence was felt throughout the whole community, and he will be greatly missed by the Sunday School of which he was Assistant Superintendent. He has been ailing for six months, and during the past six weeks his suffering was intense, but he bore it patiently and was satisfied with God's will.

Before taking his remains from the old home, the choir sang "Gathered Home," after which Rev. Alm read a passage of scripture. The funeral services were held in the Swedish M.E. church. The railing and organ were draped in heavy mourning, as was also his accustomed chair in the choir. Rev. Alm, the pastor, preached the sermon, taking as text the 90th Psalm 9th verse. "For all our days are passed away in thy wrath; we spend our years as a tale that is told."

A large number of friends and neighbors accompanied his remains to his last resting place, where he lies sweetly sleeping.

Thou art gone but not forever
Soon we'll meet to part no more,
On that bright and golden shore
We shall meet those gone before.
- A Friend.
