Hans Lundquist

Hans Lundquist, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gustaf Lundquist, was born near Stratford* [born in Malung, Dalarna, Sweden the son of Anna Hansdotter, emigrated with his mother on June 3, 1872] on Dec. 3, 1869, and died Oct. 2, 1940, being 71 years, 10 months, 1 day old at the time of his death.

He lived in this community until the spring of 1912 when he went to South Dakota and homesteaded a farm which was his home for twenty years. Eight years ago he left that farm and moved to Hettinger, N. Dak., where he had since lived. He visited his brothers and sisters here during last summer for the first time in 28 years. After a pleasant visit in the old home community he returned to his home in apparent good health but shortly after that his health began to fail. He knew that he was not improving and a few weeks ago wrote to his brother, Gust to come and get him. About two weeks he was brought here and lived in the Gust Lundquist home until his death.

He leaves to mourn his death, 3 brothers and three sisters; Gust, John and Oscar, all of Stratford, Mrs. John Malmberg and Miss Jeannette Lundquist, both of Boone. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

Last rites were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Gust Lundquist home by the Rev. Murphy Duncan, pastor of the South Marion church who used for his text, Deuteronomy 33:27, "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are his everlasting arms." Mrs. Roy Bergquist sang "Rock of Ages," "Abide With Me," and "Jesus Lover of my Soul."

The remains were interred in the South Marion cemetery. The pallbearers were John Erickson, Edward Nelson, Will Carlson, Charley Teander, Fred Olson, John Carlstedt.
