Funeral services for Edith Lorena Lindquist, 84, Boone, were held Monday, October 12, 1987 at South Marion United Methodist Church, Stratford. Rev. Willis Grant conducted the 1:30 p.m. service. Interment was held in the South Marion Cemetery.

Mrs. Lindquist passed away Friday, October 9, 1987 at Ledges Manor in Boone.

During the service Ardelle Phipps sang, "Children of the Heavenly Father" (in Swedish) and "Whispering Hope" accompanied by Margaret Crim.

Bearers were Rod Hayes, Daryl East, Dan East, LaVerne Crim, Gary Crim and Hugh Weigel.

Edith L. Borg was born on December 9, 1902 near Stratford. She was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Gustafson) Borg. Edith married Hugh Hayes in 1918 at Boone. Following the death of Hayes, Edith married Adolph (Hank) Lindquist in April of 1941.

Edith attended Swede Bend Community School, south of Stratford. She attended the South Marion Sunday school. Edith lived in Rockford, Illinois for 40 years and moved to Sunnyvale, California following retirement. In 1980 she moved to Boone. Mr. Lindquist passed away three years ago.

Survivors include children; Richard L. Hayes, Oroville, California, Lorraine Johnson, Fort Bragg, California, Gene Hayes, Bondurant, Patti Crim, Stanhope and Frances East, Stanhope; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Oscar Borg of Hallendale, Florida and a sister, Esther of Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

NOTE: Edith and her first husband, Hugh Hayes divorced and could not afford to care of all the children. The youngest daughters, Patricia and Frances were adopted by Theodore and Ethel Lundquist of Stratford, Iowa.
