Wilbur Donald, first born son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. [Mellie Olson] Leaf of Ames, Iowa, was born the 13th of May, 1914, and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, March 10, 1915, at the age of 9 months and 27 days.

Little Donald suffered from broncho pneumonia since the 13th of January. Though all was done for his recovery that possibly could be done, he gradually grew weaker, the call of the Maker sounded and angels carried the soul to the kingdom of glory, where there is no sickness, no pain and no death, but a perfect climate and a multitude of happy children - for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Since his place in the home is vacant he shall be missed especially by his parents, grandparents and near relatives. The God of comfort and strength sustain them all. The funeral services were held last Friday at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Olson, conducted by Rev. Pearson of South Marion church. The interment took place in South Marion cemetery.

I know not what the future hath
Of marvel or surprise;
Assured alone that life and death
His mercy underlies.

And so beside the silent Sea
I wait the muffled oar;
No harm from him can come to me,
On ocean or on shore.

I know not where his Islands lift
Their fronded palms in air;
I only know I can not drift
Beyond his love and care.

Card of Thanks

We herewith extend our heartfelt thanks for the beautiful floral offerings and the assistance rendered us during the sickness and death of our little son.
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Leaf
