Brian Heun
Columbia MO. Formerly of Stratford, IA.
February 13, 1976 – January 16, 2019

Brian has worked in both commercial construction and private construction such as roofing, adding additions on to houses, remodeling inside the home and even backyard renovation. Brian liked to work with his hands and was good at whatever he built with his hands. Brian was close to his Grandpa Ober from whom he learned carpentry work, a lot about fishing and at an early age, drawing.

Brian was the first grandchild to call his Grandma and Grandpa Heun, Mommer and Popper and every grandchild has done the same since.

Brian met Melissa in 2007 in Stratford, IA, and started dating. Brian had moved back to Missouri in 2008 and Melissa moved to Missouri in 2009 where Brian and Melissa lived together.

Brian's favorite pastime was fishing and hunting and he was a great fisherman. He could spend all night out on the river to catch fish. Brian loved to tell his fishing stories and would smile every time he told them. In the spring, Brian would go out mushroom hunting for morel mushrooms so Melissa and his mom could have at least one meal of fried mushrooms and catfish.

Brian also had a love for animals. He had a pet raccoon while growing up but his favorite animal was his dogs; his special son Butch.

Brian had decided to back to college several years after high school for a degree in engineering and architectural design. He had 2 years of Junior college and 2 years at University of Missouri in Columbia towards his engineering degree. Brian choose this because of so many years in construction and he wanted buildings built right and sturdy.

Brian was a very hard worker and he knew all of his neighbors and was willing to help anyone who needed help.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Stratford, IA. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Stratford, IA.
