Harry Leroy Jess, 86, of Webster City and formerly of Baxter, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Crestview Nursing and Rehab in Webster City. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Leroy was born on September 28, 1929 in rural Newton to Harry and Lena (Iske) Jess. He attended school in Newton and graduated in 1948. Following high school he joined the Airforce and served his country as an airplane mechanic during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the service, he returned home to work on the family farm. On January 29, 1955 he married Patsy Umbarger in Newton, IA. To this union three children were born. The couple worked on the farm until Leroy retired in 1981. He drove the school bus for Baxter Schools for many years. Leroy was a member of the Baxter American Legion Post #493. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cribbage.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Patsy; daughter Lori (Howard) Isvik; daughter-in-law Vicki Jess and granddaughter Amy Isvik and many other family members and friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, son Dennis and daughter Sharon.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Baxter American Legion Post #493. Condolences to the family may be sent to Patsy Jess, 2401 Des Moines Street, Webster City, IA 50595.

Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Leroy and his family.
