Johnson

Mrs. Christina Johnson passed away at the home of her son, Ed. F. Johnson, Sunday evening at 6:45 o'clock, the cause of her death being old age. She has not been able to leave the house for over a year. At the time of her death she was 82 years, 10 months and ten days old.

Deceased was born in Östergötland, Sweden, May 22, 1822 and came to America in 1855, settling at Galesburg, Ill., Knox Co., where she was married in 1855 to Andrew Johnson. In 1876 she, with her husband, settled on a farm south of Stratford, where she resided until 1901, when she moved with her son to Stratford. Her husband died in 1887 at the home south of town. She was a loving mother, a faithful Christian and a member of the Sw. M.E. church. She leaves behind three sons, Ed. of this place, and Charley and Henry of Omaha, one girl, the only daughter, having died when she was four years old.

The funeral was held Tuesday at the residence at 1 o'clock p.m. and at the M.E. church at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Olof Granberg, assisted by Rev. E.S. Benjamin. The remains were laid to rest in the Olson cemetery.
