OBITUARY

Lewis Fallein

Funeral services for Lewis Fallein were held in the local Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock following a brief prayer service in the home of Mrs. Florence Peterson, a daughter, at 2 o'clock.

The Rev. Paul R. Johnson, the pastor, was in charge and at the church service held his discourse on the text, "Because I live ye shall live also." A mixed quartette composed of Mrs. William Hartshorn, Mrs. R. Johnson, J.H. Thurau and George Harrison, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," God Will Take Care of You," and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Mrs. George Harrison was the accompanist.

After the service the remains were laid to rest in the South Marion Cemetery and the following were casket bearers: Albert, John, Charley, David and Gust Lundgren and Ben Lundquist.

Lewis Fallein was born in Sweden Dec. 16, 1856, and died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. L.R. Anderson, Saturday morning, Aug. 26, 1939, at the good old age of 82 years, 8 months, 10 days.

He came to America with his parents in 1857 and stopped off in Illinois for a time but in short time they moved to Iowa and located in this community which had bee the home of deceased ever since.

He was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Linn on June 19, 1879, and they located on a farm south of Stratford which was his home until four years ago when he went to live with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Anderson.

His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 1932 and he was preceded in death also by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

He leaves to mourn his death, four children: Albert Fallein, of Perry; Edna Anderson and Florence Peterson of Stratford; Loran Fallein of Sheldon. Seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends survive.

He had been a member of the local Modern Woodman camp, No. 4135, for forty years. He was a faithful member and an untiring worker in the South Marion church while living in the community, and always ready to do his part. He was a loving father and to many of his friends was known as "Dad," and will be greatly missed by all.
