(Special To News-Republican)

Stratford, Jan. 6 - Funeral services for the late Mrs. Lewis Fallein were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church here with the Rev. Stephen Lumley in charge. He used as his text a passage which had brought much consolation to Mrs. Fallein during the last visit of the pastor with her before the end came, John 14:1 and 2.

The church men's quartet, L.M. Peterson, George Harrison, Sam Swedlund and A.T. Johnson, sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River." The Rev. A.E. Applequist, pastor of the Baptist church, sang "There is No Night There."

Casket bearers were Wesley Swedlund, Albert Swedlund, Elie Swedlund, P.M. Johnson, Ben Lundquist and Henry Sweeney of Boone. Interment was in South Marion cemetery.

74 Years Old

Carrie Linn was born at Swede Bend, December 5, 1858, and died at her home in Stratford, December 29, 1932 at the age of 74 years and 24 days. At the age of ten she with her parents moved to Moline, Ill., where her father, the Rev. John Linn was ordained minister of the Swedish Methodist Episcopal church. In 1871 the family moved to Rockford, Ill., later to Galesburg, Ill., where they lived for two years. In 1874, her father was appointed district superintendent of Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska.

They made their home in Des Moines where he served as pastor of the Swedish Methodist church, which he had organized and while in Des Moines the daughter finished her high school course, graduating in 1876. She entered the teaching profession and taught at the Linn school, five miles south of Stratford.

On Jun 19, 1879, she was united in marriage to Lewis Fallein at Stratford. The young couple made their home on a farm south of Stratford where they lived until April 1, 1891, when they moved into Stratford. To this union were born four children: Albert L. Fallein of Perry, Mrs. Edna Anderson, Mrs. Florence Peterson and Loran Fallein of Stratford. These all with her husband survive her, also one sister, Louise B. Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., six grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn her passing.

Church Member

The deceased was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers. In early life she identified herself with the Swedish Methodist church and remained a true and firm believer to the end. For many years she was a member of the South Marion church. Owing to the distance Swedish meetings led by the minister were held every two weeks at her home and later at the Methodist church at Stratford. During these years Mrs. Fallein acted as organist for the services and proved an active and faithful worshiper. In later years when her health failed and she was unable to attend public services she maintained her devotional life by diligent study of the Bible and private worship, she read much of devout literature and a rich store of precious clippings are now found as a helpful legacy to her loved ones.

A striking coincidence to be noted in the passing of Mrs. Fallein is that her mother and a sister died on the same day of the same month and were alike buried on New Year's day.
