Frank Erickson

Funeral services for Frank Erickson were conducted in the Lutheran church here Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, following a brief family service at the Erickson farm home, southeast of town, at 1:30 o'clock. A quartet composed of Lester Anderson, Axel Sandegren, Leonard Anderson and Wilbert Anderson, sang the following songs at the church service: "Nearer My God to Thee," "Going Down the Valley One by One," and "Rock of Ages." The sermon was given by the pastor, the Rev. Anton Chell on a text taken from Psalm 90:12. Following the service in the church the remains were laid to rest in the South Marion Cemetery. The pallbearers were Floyd, Norman, Carl, Elmer and Ernest Erickson and Carl Anderson.

Frank Erickson was born on a farm in Marion Township, Oct. 27, 1869, and died in a hospital in Cherokee March 22, 1925, at the age of 65 years, 4 months, 23 days. All of his life was spent in this community with the exception of six years when he lived in Ames.

He was united in marriage with Lottie Anderson on April 21, 1892, and she is left to mourn his death as are one daughter, Mrs. A.P. Hanson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and two sons, Paul Erickson of Des Moines and Donald Erickson, who teachers in the public schools at Colwell. One granddaughter, Mrs. Harold Winkler, also survives, as do two brothers, John and Oscar, both residents of this community.

Mr. Erickson was taken ill two years ago with an affliction which defied medical skill and which eventually resulted in his death. He was a quiet and unassuming man and was always willing and ready to do his part to help out those who were in need or trouble and as such a man was beloved by all who knew him.
