Peter Andrews passed away at the family home here at 4:20 o'clock Sunday morning after having been a constant sufferer for many months. On the day of his death he was 78 years, 11 months and 8 days old. He was a man of excellent habits, fine moral character, good to his family and kind-hearted to all. He was one of those early pioneer settlers who came here to make their way in the world and do it by the work of his hands.

But he is gone! Another name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our old settlers, and a lonely wife in the sunset of life and a lonely home are left to attest how sadly they will miss him. It must be so; these tender human ties cannot be severed without a pang. Yet in such a death there is really no cause for regret for his life's work was done.

Deceased was born in Sweden, May 4, 1829 and sailed for America in 1854, in the same year marrying Miss Caroline Colson. They located in New York state staying there until 1866 when they moved to Iowa, settling in Boone county. In 1872 they moved into this county living on the same farm for twenty-one years. In 1893 they bought property in Stratford and moved into it and have lived here since.

Six sons and five daughters were born to the union, and of these all but one son and four daughters have preceded the father to the great beyond.

Interment took place last Tuesday, Rev. O.R. Palm officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Olson cemetery.
