Helen Daniels, 92, Webster City, a former rural Duncombe resident, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999 at Crestview Manor Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will be at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service Wednesday.

Helen Elizabeth Brown, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Dingman) Brown, was born Aug. 9, 1906 at Webster City. She received her education at White Elephant rural school near Bells Mill and graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City. She also received Normal training to begin teaching.

On Aug. 19, 1924 she married David D. Daniels at Webster City. The couple farmed southwest of Duncombe.

In the 1950s, she received a degree in education from Drake University. In Webster County, she had taught at Washington No. 10 and Colfax No. 8 rural schools, Coleman School in Fort Dodge, Duncombe Public School. She also taught in the Webster City school system, retiring in 1973. For a short time, she was a substitute teacher.

Mr. Daniels died Aug. 4, 1996.

Survivors include: one son, Irvin Daniels, Duncombe; daughters and sons-in-law, Elinor Swanson of Tucson, Arizona, Ann and Charles Edgar of Atlanta, Georgia, and Janis and Harley Groves of Webster City; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John D. Daniels in 1941; granddaughter Brooke Etter; her parents; brother C. Earl Brown; sisters Leola Brown, Ethel Westrum and Ruth Hall.

Mrs. Daniels was a member of the Duncombe United Methodist Church, church circles, Retired Teachers Association and the Webster City Women's Club.
