Marilyn Ballard Ward, 68, Hot Springs, AR., and formerly of Boone and Stanhope, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999 at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, AZ. Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone with Rev. Craig Ballard and Rev. Bruce Pfadenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until the time of service.

Marilyn Ballentine was born in Boone County on Dec. 31, 1930, the daughter of Francis and Freeda Appenzeller Ballentine. She graduated from Jordan High School and received her teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught elementary school in the Jordan area. She married Willis Dean Ballard in Boone in 1949. The couple farmed in the Stanhope area. He died in 1983. She moved to Ames following her husband's death and worked at J.C. Penney. She later moved to Boone. She married Robert Ward in Ames on April 21, 1990.

Survivors are her husband, Robert, Hot Springs, AR., two sons and daughters-in-law, Rod and Kathy Ballard of Boone and Rev. Craig and Kathy Ballard of Warsaw, MO.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mia and Terry Montang of Hershey, PA., a sister Koke Anderson of Hot Springs, AR., six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two nephews and a niece.

She wa preceded in death by her parents and first husband.

She was a member of Central Christian Church in Hot Springs.
