Eugene Marvin Berg, 81, Webster City, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Roden officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral Home and prior to the services on Thursday at the church.

Eugene Marvin Berg, son of George and Thora Johnson Berg, was born Sept. 7, 1917 on a farm south of Dayton. He graduated from Dayton high school in 1935. He started farming in the Dayton area. On June 24, 1940 he married Annetta F. Peterson at Harcourt. The couple farmed near Dayton and in 1942, they moved to a farm southeast of Blairsburg. Following his retirement, they moved to Webster City in 1993. He had resided at Bethany Manor since July of this year.

Survivors are his wife, Annetta, sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Don Berg of Ottumwa, DeWayne and Cathy Berg of Ellsworth, grandchildren, Todd, Kimberly and Dr. Tom Berg and Tricia King, great-grandchildren, Seth and Brady Berg, brother Lorimer Berg of Dayton; sister, Marcella Adcock of Lubbock, TX., several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Vera Young, Eunice Carroll and Pauline Berg.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Hamilton County Soil Conservation Service, Iowa Cattleman's Association board, Stonega Cooperative board and Hardin County REC board.
