Dave Niggemeyer, 67, of Webster City, died, Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Faith United Methodist Church with Pastor Peggy Ellingson officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
David Lee Niggemeyer, son of Melvin and Grace (Herrmuth) Niggemeyer, was born March 8, 1952 in Fort Madison. He graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1970 and Westmar College in LeMars, where he was a scholarship basketball player. Just two days after college graduation, he married the love of his life, LeMars native Debra Strouse, on May 26, 1974. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year. Dave was an art teacher in Afton for one year, then found their forever home in Webster City where he and Deb taught art for 36 years. Among his many accomplishments and hobbies; Dave coached his children’s ball teams, was the proud business owner of Niggemeyer Signs, lettered race cars, helped launch the W.C.T.V. news program in 1999 and restored several classic cars. He enjoyed cruising with friends as a member of the W.C. Cruisers and enjoyed art, playing guitar, hunting and fishing.
Dave is survived by his wife Debbie of Webster City; children, Jeff (Kathleen) Niggemeyer of Brooklyn, NY, Jason (Alicia) Niggemeyer of Phoenix, AZ, Katie (Ryan) Bradley of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Peter, Josephine, Tavian, Ella, and Paisley; sister, Amy Niggemeyer of Fort Madison; brother, Steve (Jan) Niggemeyer of Maynard; brother-in-law, Danny Meierotto of West Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Grace Niggemeyer; step-mother, Lillian Niggemeyer; brother, Gary Niggemeyer and sister, Kathy Meierotto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family’s discretion.
