Peter A. Anderson

Peter A. Anderson was born April 13, 1865 near Tidgholm, Skaraborgs Lan, Vestergotland, Sweden, and passed away in the Johnson Nursing Home at Fort Dodge, Iowa January 11, 1951, after a few months of failing health, at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 29 days.

In 1880, at the age of 15 years, he came to America with his parents and for the first three years lived in Chicago. In 1883, he came to Stratford and this vicinity has since been his home, where he followed the trade of a carpenter.

Those left to mourn are, his sister, Mrs. Lottie Erickson of Long Beach, Calif., 25 nieces and nephews, also other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Reinholdt, Fred, and Emil; four sisters, Mrs. Freda Hallein, Mrs. Clara Berglund, Mrs. Anna Lofhdahl and Mrs. Hedda Peterson.

The deceased was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Stratford and was a member of the Lutheran church of Stratford and passed away trusting in his God and Savior.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Stratford Lutheran Church, with the Rev. F.W. Hanson officiating, who also sang a song at the prayer services in the Jackson Funeral Home. He used his theme, "Preach the Word."

Songs for the services were sung by Mrs. Arthur Larson and Miss Velva Berglund. Miss Myrtle Olson played the accompaniments. The songs were: "Tell Me the Old, Old Story," "There's a Land That Is Fairer Than Day," "Day by Day Thy Mercies, Lord, Attend Me." The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Axel Sandegren and Miss Hannah Nelson.

At the close of the service, the remains were escorted to the South Marion Cemetery, where they were interred. The pallbearers were: Justin Anderson, Erick Berglund, Lloyd F. Anderson, Paul Erickson, Orville Anderson and Vernor Berglund. The Jackson Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral services.
