Ray Griffin, 68, Webster City, died Sunday, June 18, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral Home with Cindi O'Brien, ministry assistant, officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and prior to the service on Thursday.

Ray Verle Griffin, son of Bryan and Mary Miller Griffin, was born February 28, 1932 on a farm northeast of Webster City. He attended school at Blairsburg. In 1942, the family moved to Buffalo Center. He graduated from high school at Buffalo Center in 1949. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Navy on the hospital ship - Repose and the cruiser - Quincey. Following his discharge, he started farming at Buffalo Center in 1954. He moved to a farm northeast of Webster City in March of 1961. He retired from farming in 1997. Survivors are his brother, Lee Griffin of Buffalo Center, a sister, Ruth Adams of Webster City; nephews Michael Adams of Dodge Center, Minn., Bryan Gilbert and James Adams, both of Webster City; Ed Griffin of Buffalo Center, nieces Julie Christianson of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Amy Kleckner of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathryn Gilbert, nephew Steven Griffin, niece Maureen Griffin.

He was a former member of the Mulberry Center United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #191.
