Vesta Lowish, 72, Wilmington, N.C., died March 3, 1994 at her daughter's home in Summit, N.J. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City with Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in Cass Center Cemetery, north of Webster City. Visitation will be after noon Sunday until time of service at the funeral home.

Vesta Maxine Short, daughter of Orin and Erma (Foster) Short was born Oct. 23, 1921 at Webster City. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1938.

On Dec. 16, 1943, she married Max Lowish at Victory, Kan. She owned and operated her own bookkeeping service in Summit and Burlington, N.C. She retired in December of 1986.

She is survived by her husband; daughters Virginia Burns of Summit and Anne Richards of Easton, Conn.; sons Richard Lowish of London, England and William Lowish of Valdosta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; sisters Viola Crosby of Webster City, Leila Wemhoff of Moberly, Mo., Shirley Bourne of Eureka Springs, Mo. and Phyllis Richardson of Webster City; brothers Gary Short of Independence and Dr. Robert Short of Miles City, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Michael Lowish; and brothers Estle Short and one in infancy.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
