Robert Hughes Kneedy, 78, a former Webster City resident, died May 11, 2000. Funeral services were held at Forest Lawn Covina Hills Church of the Heritage on May 16, 2000.

Robert Hughes Kneedy was born Jan. 14, 1922 at Webster City. He received his bachelor's degree at the University of Northern Iowa and his master's degree from New York University. He served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II and received three battle stars for combat in the European Theater. He worked for six years in the Spencer Community School District as a teacher and for 37 years in the West Covina, Calif. School District.

He was a charter member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. His Masonic activities included membership in the West Covina-LaPuente Lodge where he received the 50 year Golden Veteran's Award. He was also a member of the West Covina Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Patron four times. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Pasadena, the Citrus Shrine Club and the Al Malaikah Shrine of Los Angeles. He was a member of the Sons of the Revolution, the American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars.

Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Charleene; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and Charles Richey of Calipatria, Calif., Kara and Maurice Cayem, Glendora, Calif., and Laura and Tracy Allen of Apple Valley, and five grandchildren and a step-grandson.
