Gary Knutson, 64, Webster City, died Thursday, May 18, 2000 at his home. Mr. Knutson was cremated and graveside services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191.

Gary Alan Knutson, son of Helmer and Della Walterman Knutson, was born March 25, 1936 at Kamrar. The family moved to Webster City and he graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1954. He served with the U.S. Army-82nd Airborne Rangers during the Korean War. He later joined the U.S. Air Force - support fire gun ships. He received the Combat Infantry Badge. He retired from the military after 23 years in 1977. He then operated a television repair business in Ballentine, Neb. For a short time, he worked for Fishbach-Mohr Electrical Company, an atomic energy plant in Louisiana. He worked as a bartender at the Moose Lodge, the Rainbow Lounge and part time at the American Legion. He had been in failing health for several years.

Survivors are his sons, Tom Knutson, San Diego, Calif., Scott Knutson, Omaha, Neb., sister Margie Olson of Clarion and brother Howard Knutson of Pella; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harley, Roy and John Knutson.

He was a former commander of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, a member of the American Legion Post #191 and a member of the Webster City Moose Lodge #735.
