Richard Wayne Fleischer, 80, died Saturday, May 20, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Memorial services will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Richard Wayne Fleischer, son of Walter and Blanch Nanna Fleischer, was born Sept. 18, 1919 in Dunnell, Minn. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1937. He served overseas in the army during World War II. Following that, he was employed by the Webster City Post Office first as a city carrier and later as a rural carrier until his retirement in 1980. He married Ruth Edith Mueller on July 27, 1947.

He was an honorary lifetime member of the American Legion and served on the Veteran's Affairs Commission.

Survivors are his daughter, Rhonda Fleischer, Hastings, Neb., a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Joan Fleischer, Charlotte, NC., two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Christina Fleischer, Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth on March 24, 1998, an infant son Randy, his parents Walter and Blanch Fleischer and four brothers, Warren, Walt, Ron and Don.
