Maurice Turner, 84, Webster City, died Monday, June 5, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Center Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service at the church.

Maurice Eugene Turner, son of George and Mabel Farr Turner, was born Dec. 18, 1915 in Clarion. He received his education from Clarion Public Schools. He farmed north of Goldfield for 20 years. On July 3, 1952 he married Peggy Capsel at Eagle Grove. He worked as a truck driver for more than 10 years and then moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1960 where he was employed in custodial work. The couple returned to Webster City in 1971, where he was employed at the Hamilton County Courthouse as a custodian. He retired in 1977.

Survivors are his wife Peggy, daughter and son-in-law, Marcella and Bob Olson of Ellsworth; sons and daughter-in-law, Maurice Turner of Arkansas, Loren and Laurel Turner of Blevins, Ark., one granddaughter, Victoria Turner, and two grandsons Jonathon and Nicholas Olson, both of Ellsworth; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Wendell Turner, sisters Minnie Ryerson, LaVonne Woods and Edith Rankin.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, a 26-year member of the Webster City Moose Lodge #735 and a former member of the Kamrar Lions Club.
