Marion D. Van Hook, 79, a longtime resident of the Webster City community, died Thursday evening at his home at 534 High street following a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Foster Funeral home, the Rev. Roy Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery, Fort Dodge.

Marion Dio Van Hook, son of Martin and Mary Van Hook, was born Oct. 30, 1883 at Fisher, Ill. His father passed away in 1886 and in the spring of 1891 he came to Iowa with his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. William Harris. They located on a farm near Manson, Iowa, where they resided one year then moving to a farm in Pocahontas county. They later moved to a farm in Calhoun county where they resided for 6 years. They moved then to a farm near Webster City.

He was united in marriage Dec. 10, 1912 to Minnie Gunderson and the couple farmed near Webster City until 1955 when they moved into Webster City.

Mr. Van Hook is survived by his wife, three daughters and one son; Mrs. Torcie (Evelyn) Greene, Plans, Iowa; Mrs. T.W. (Beulah) Henderson, Seal Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Freddie (Dorothy) Buehler, Tucson, Ariz., and Myron Van Hook, Duncombe.

Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, two half brothers and one half sister; Earl Harris, LaMar, Mo., Leslie Harris, Independence, Iowa; Mrs. Glen Black, Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two half brothers.

Mr. Van Hook was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge.
