Alvin H. Wells, 90, Clarion, a former Webster City resident, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at the Clarion Health Care Center. Mr. Wells was cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge, with Rev. Bill Ballard and Laypastor Oscar Davis officiating. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191.

Alvin H. Wells, son of Cyrus and Stella Dayton Wells, was born May 7, 1909 at Kamrar. He attended a rural school in the Homer area. On May 4, 1942 he married Dorothy Elizabeth Hansen at Bethany, MO. The couple resided in Webster City. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army-Quartermaster. Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Georgia Pacific Company, later working as a truck driver. The couple moved to Woolstock in 1987. Mrs. Wells died March 25, 1997.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence and Gerald Wells, sisters Ruth Reichert and Leila Potter, and a brother in infancy.

He was a member of the Woolstock United Methodist Church, Webster City Moose Lodge #735, American Legion Post #191 and was a Diabetes Bikeathon volunteer.
