Mary Jane Adams, 88, Boone, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Rose Blank officiating. Burial was in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. An Eastern Star Memorial service was conducted by the Eastern Star Magi Chapter #139 of Boone at the Stark-Welin Funeral Chapel in Boone.

Mary Jane Hewitt, daughter of Emory and Henrietta Smith Hewitt, was born August 11, 1911 at Boone. She was a 1929 graduate of Boone High School. Following graduation she was employed as a secretary in the Boone County Attorney's Office for several years. After the marriage, the couple lived in Littledale, Webster City and Rockwell City where she was employed as a secretary for the County ASCS offices until her retirement. In the early 1970's, the couple moved back to Boone. She was employed at the Eastern Star Home for several years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Leah Circle, Boone County Women's Club, Heritage Club and AARP. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Magi Chapter #139 and Bethphage White Shrine. She was involved in several bridge clubs including the Elks Bridge Club, Boone Golf and Country Club, M & M Club, Unity Club and the Round Robin Club.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Paul Hansen of Boone, a granddaughter, Kimberlee Hansen of Cedar Falls, a nephew, John Hewitt of Brookfield, IL., and a niece, Joyce Toenges, Waverly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in Sept. 1988, daughter Barbara in October, 1983, brother Ralph Hewitt in July, 1995 and a sister Olive Stephenson in March, 1933 and a brother in infancy.
