Gale D. McCollough, 69, Marshalltown, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 at the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines. Mr. McCollough was cremated and memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191. There will be no visitation.

Gale Darold McCollough, son of Ralph and Marie Pinkele McCollough, was born Sept. 7, 1930 at Webster City. He was educated in the Webster City School System and served in the U.S. Navy. On Oct. 24, 1952, he married Ida Olson at Williams. The couple resided at Webster City and Williams. He worked at Raven Mill and Lumber, Raun [?]Lumber and Campbell Mill and Lumber. He was divorced in 1970. On June 21, 1971, he married Ethel Josephine Taylor Schmidt at Missoula, MT. The couple resided at Webster City. He worked for the City of Webster City - street department - retiring due to failing health. He had resided at the Knoxville Veterans Hospital for one year and at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown for the past three years.

Survivors are his wife Jo, daughters Vicki McCollough of Fort Dodge, Kathy Sell of Omaha, NE., son Brian McCollough of Omaha, step children, Glinda Fagan, Whitefish, MT., Brenda Ritter, Kalispell, MT.; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild; sisters, Carol Wenger, Timberville, VA., Phyllis Hilpipre, Woolstock, Patricia Klaver, Kamrar, brothers, Thyrol McCollough, Webster City and Carl McCollough of Frederick, MD., several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony McCollough in 1985, his parents, brothers Melvin, Albert, Harold, Robert, Lyle and Walter McCollough, sisters Doris Fink, Evelyn Timmons, Barbara Trampel, Beverly and Betty McCollough.

He was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
