Francis Dean Helton, 74, Webster City, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Davenport officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Francis Dean Helton, son of Ivan and Esther Graham Helton, was born May 6, 1925 at Gainsville, Mo. He received his education at Pleasanton and Welden, MO. During W.W. II, he served with the U.S. Army-Company E 9th Infantry in the European Theater of Action. Following his discharge, he farmed at Davis City until 1947. He then moved to Webster City. On Oct. 30, 1948 he married Doris LaFon Graves at Leon. The couple resided in Webster City. He worked at Zitterell Mills Construction, Osmundson Forge, McCollough Foundry, Morton Frozen Foods, People's Natural Gas, Hunter's Gas Station, eight years for Borden Dairy and 24 years in the city meter department of Webster City. He retired in 1990.

Survivors are his wife, Doris, sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Roberta Helton, Davis City, Jim and Sharon Helton of Blairsburg, Dennis and Sue Helton, Darren and Tammy Helton, all of Webster City, David and Tracy Helton, Eldridge, Doug and Janna Helton of St. Charles, daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Larry Abbas of Duncombe, Deanna and George LeMay, Hugo, MN., Darla and David Odor, Webster City, Denise and Jeffry Thorson, Coon Rapids, 30 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother, Lloyd Helton, sisters, Jean Hatcher, Bonnie Odland and Lois Simpson, all of Webster City; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Norem, Shirley Jessen, brothers Howard and Orval Helton.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
