Funeral services for John Robert Boyer, 16, rural Stanhope, formerly of Boone, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone with Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone. Visitation will be at the church Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8-11 a.m. at Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone. John Robert Boyer died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000 at his home in Stanhope.

John Robert Boyer was born March 29, 1983 in Ames, the son of Robert and Shelley Burma Boyer. He was a sophomore at Boone High School. He was employed at the Short Stop and prior to that was employed at Boucher Masonry as a laborer. He was active in school sports, especially football and wrestling. In earlier years, he played Little League.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, great-grandparents and an uncle.

Survivors are his mother, Shelley Boyer and her friend Doug Macek of Stanhope; his father and step-mother, Robert and Teresa Boyer of Boone, three sisters, Kari, Tiffany and Megan, and a step-brother, Ben Ostlund, all of Boone; grandparents, Sharon and Larry Clemons, Boone, Harold and Maxine Burma, Kisseemills, MO., Rita Boyer of Boone; step-grandparents, Larry and Pauline Halupnick of Traer.
