Delmar G. Johnson, 82, Boone, died at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on March 28, 1999. He had been a resident at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone since July of 1998. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Mineral Ridge Baptist Church north of Boone with Rev. Paul Peebler officiating. Interment will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by Boone Veteran's Council. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family will be present from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Delmar G. Johnson, son of Gust and Hilma Olander Johnson, was born Dec. 19, 1916 in rural Hamilton County. He attended rural schools in Hamilton and Boone County, and Boone High School. He farmed in the rural Stratford area until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army 31st Infantry Division in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Gladine Culbertson at Lorimar on Jan. 6, 1943.

He was a member of the Mineral Ridge Baptist Church where he was active in all aspects of church work, including church school superintendent and deacon.

Survivors are four sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Anita Johnson, Galena, IL., Stephen and Christine Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD., Richard and Kandi Johnson, Lake City, FL., and Daniel and Diane Johnson of Stratford; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers Vernon Johnson of Boone, George Johnson, Alamogordo, NM, two sisters, Ellen Rosengreen of Anaheim, CA and Ruth Carpenter, Boone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Carl, an infant sister and his wife.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone are in charge of arrangements.
