Raymond J. Johnson, 84, Webster City and formerly of Williams, died Saturday, March 13, 1999 at the Crestview Manor Care Center in Webster City. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Williams United Methodist Church with burial in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Surls Funeral Home in Williams with the family present during that time. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home from 6-6:30 p.m.

Raymond Johnson, son of Ed and Elsie Tuttle Johnson, was born May 18, 1914 in rural Williams. He attended both country and Williams schools, graduating in 1931. He married Ruth Dinsdale on March 10, 1939. The couple farmed south of Williams for 35 years and moved into town in 1974, living in Williams for 20 years. They later moved into an apartment in Webster City. He was a member of the park board, the library board, a 4-H leader and a member of the Lions Club.

Survivors are his wife, Ruth; two sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Gale Johnson, Kamrar and Robert and Marge Johnson of Stonington, CT., a sister-in-law, Pat Johnson of Indianapolis, IN., and a brother-in-law Jesse Johnson of Iowa Falls, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Harold and an adopted sister, Rosalie.
