John Thompson, 86, Webster City, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999 at Southfield Care Center. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and prior to the services on Friday.

John Douglas Thompson, son of Barnie and Cecelia Larsen Thompson, was born Dec. 14, 1912 at Jewell. He was a graduate of Blairsburg High School. On Oct. 1, 1938 he married Margie O'Connor at Clarion. With the exception of nine years when they resided at Kamrar, they had always made their home in Webster City. He was employed by the Co-op Elevator in Webster City and was manager from 1950-1959. He also worked for the Co-Op at Kamrar for several years, then was employed by the city of Webster City and later by Frigidaire Company Laundry Products where he retired in 1975. His wife preceded him in death in 1966.

Survivors are a son, Mike Thompson of Webster City, daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Spencer Ackmann, Rockford, IL., Sheryll and John Lyons, Webster City, Jolene and Dale Mollison, Fort Lupton, CO., Cindy and Melvin Lawrence of Woolstock, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a sister Bessie Parrish of Duncombe.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge 735 of Webster City and was a Norwegian Lutheran.
