Ruth Groshens, 79, Webster City, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Ruth Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of LeRoy and Florence McDonald Thompson, was born Feb. 28, 1920 at Webster City. She graduated from Webster City High School and then attended Webster City Junior College. On January 5, 1942 she married Alfred Constant Groshens at Fort Dodge. The couple farmed northeast of Webster City and moved to Webster City in 1948. Mr. Groshens died April 27, 1974. She had resided at Crestview Manor for the past seven years.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Clarence Cory of Ottumwa, grandchildren, David Cory of Ames, Bruce Cory of Santa Cruz, CA., brothers Donald Thompson of Evansdale, Ralph Thompson of Cedar Falls, sisters Phyllis Toole, Denver, CO., Doris George of Georgetown, CO., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marian Gates and Dorma Alice Blankert.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
